Sinestral Manor: Guide

  • Overview

Rebellious vampirs and the Scions of Lok are working together to produce dementaliths—stones capable of warping the minds of mortal creatures—and aggravating the vampirs' bloodthirst.
  • How to Enter the Dungeon

While the dungeon proper is accessible to any character level 26 or higher, to get the full experience, you'll want to follow the Insanity Epidemic plotline. This group of mission quests begins in Poporia, and has you investigating the motives behind the vampirs' activities.
  • The Story So Far...

I need a Hero!General Samael sent you to this province with a singular mission: Discover the source of Poporia's problems, and contain them no matter the cost. You worked with a pair of baraka scholars researching a strange force affecting people who spend time in the area, and saved a caravan full of instrumentation necessary to isolate the source—relics known as dementaliths.
Who's that girl? The researchers sent you to a colleague of theirs, a castanic soldier named Jelena with her own agenda in the area. Her explosive methods uncover some disturbing news—the symbols of Lok are inscribed on the dementaliths. And worse, the vampirs are involved, though no-one can guess as to why.
  • Dungeon Walkthrough

This section will walk you through the main quests and encounters of the Sinestral Manor. The tactics presented are suggested by players like you and draw on extensive play experience, but are not absolute guarantees of success. As with all things TERA, player skill and a healthy amount of common sense are what you'll need to win—but we've included a few tips, too.

  • 1. Vampirs Suck

Justicar Bruke is your contact in this province, so when he and Prefect Paka tell you the vampirs need to be dealt with, off you go.

  • 2. Familiar Faces

Paka sends you to Jelena, who's now convinced the vampirs are pawns of the Scions of Lok, but still doesn't know what they're after. She's seen the cultist Surdek taking notes, so she sends you to collect them while she scouts out a way into the manor.

  • 3. A Bloody Business

Surdek's notes talk about manufacturing dementaliths—and indicate they're being built in the manor itself. Jelena says she's found a way inside...if you can get some royal blood. She sends you off to get some from the coffins of a count and countess, but there's a small complication....

  • 5. Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It

The dementaliths are in a secured area, so to reach your target you must defeat the vampir leaders Duchess Tirania and Duke Volperon to release the bindings on the door.
    Dungeon at a glance
Jelena hurries ahead to disable the alarms, leaving you to cut your way to the ladder leading to the vampire leaders.
  • 6. A Stroll Through The Center

The corridors are full of witches, wraiths, and the vampirs' trusted servants. Everyone here besides yourselves and Jelena are pretty thoroughly evil, so have fun with it! In larger rooms, be mindful of pulling additional mobs—a tight fighting formation is key, and even one additional combatant can turn an encounter from a fun diversion to a rout!
    Now serving number...
In particular, be wary of a room full of stationary wraiths. They cycle through a pattern of HP-reducing lightning storms. Use ranged attacks to clear a path down one of the sides, and then deal with the ducal loyalists guarding access to the next hallway.

  • 7. Kagaron (Optional Boss)

    Quest TitleNPCTask
Treason's RewardSegodunExecute the traitor Kagaron (Boss)
First floor. Traitors, Lokians, Wraiths and Housewares.
On the way to Jelena you'll see a room full of wraiths and loyalists, with a large door on your left. When you're ready, head left down a set of stairs, and you'll encounter some Lokians and another room full of wraiths.
Lokians? What are they doing here? Not-so-friendly ghosts
The good news is the Lokians and wraiths aren't all that tough. The bad news is that you'll likely be fighting all the wraiths at the same time, and as in any mass encounter it's easy to get overwhelmed. Stick together, use your AoEs, and you'll do fine.
But it does leave you with one more thing to deal with in here.
    You think YOU'VE got problems?
With the wraiths dead, you'll see a pair of Lokians guarding a popori named Kagaron. Rumor has it that he's responsible for everything you've been fighting the last few levels, as he betrayed Poporia's defenses to the Scions of Lok before being dragged screaming into this dungeon by Duke Volperon.
As you can see, he's certainly had better days, but don't count him out just yet. Kagaron's got a powerful magic blast and spawns mini-Kagaron minions six at a time. He occasionally puts up a damaging shield, but the real problem is his area attack. It hits hard and can take down an unprepared tank.
Kagaron will continue spawning adds, but if you keep your tank healthy and the adds under control, you shouldn't have any problem. Stuns and knockdowns are key here.
  • 8. Tirania

    Quest TitleNPCTask
A Manor InvasionJelenaKill Duchess Tirania (Boss)
Working your way east, you'll head up a large flight of stairs. Fight your way through Lokians and catch up with Jelena in a storage room with tall ladders. It's time to kill Duchess Tirania and Duke Volperon, so climb up the ladder, and she'll meet you when it's done.
    And this is regarding...?
Tirania is surrounded by vampirs and their blood moppet minions. Make sure and clear the room completely before attacking her, as she tends to run around.
'Such a lovely party'  CREEPY DOLLS!
There are three phases to Tirania's fight. Phase 1 is straightforward combat. In Phase 2, she'll ignore aggro and run around the room summoning moppets to back her up. In Phase 3, she'll continue with melee strikes, followed up powerful spray attacks. Tanks should keep her oriented away from the rest of the party. Her breath attack will kill players in light or cloth armor.

  • 9. Duke Volperon

    Quest TitleNPCTask
A Manor InvasionJelenaKill Duke Volperon (Boss)
What can I say? I'm the Villain.
Duke Volperon's got the final bit of energy Jelena needs to release the seals on the dementalith chamber. But he's a hard man to get an audience with: you'll first need to battle through rooms of Lokians and disc reapers. Happily, disc reapers aren't that bright and have short range attacks. Kite them out of range of the duke and whittle them down.
Volperon's a gentleman, but still a dangerous foe. He slashes with his cane, is acrobatic and has a swift spinning kick that hits hard and fast. He has a particular hatred of lightly armored foes, and many of his attacks can instantly drop spell casters or slow-moving melee fighters.
Volperon occasionally lunges at whoever has the highest aggro, slashing twice and following up with a stab. If enraged, this combo can drop just about anyone.
Another thing to watch for is Volperon's Blood Curse. His announcement of "eat arcane death!" is…well, a death sentence for whoever gets targeted. You've got seven seconds before your HP are just gone. Healers, be on the lookout for an affected teammate, and get rid of this status effect ASAP!

    Quest TitleNPCTask

NOTE: If you are not on, or have already completed the quest A Manor Invasion, this section does not apply to your playthrough
After you kill the duke—and watch a brief cutscene—it's time for another chat with Jelena. She asks you to escort her back to the ladder, and while it's not a long walk, it is timed. You have 15 minutes to get her past fresh spawns of Lokians, vampirs, disc reapers, and blood moppets. Once you do, she dashes ahead, leaving you to get down the ladder by whatever means you can.
  • 11. Malgarios

    Quest TitleNPCTask
    A Manor InvasionJelenaKill Malgarios (Boss)
A new hallway has opened up, and it's full of Lokians and disc reapers blocking the way to the dementalith generator. If you're quick enough, you can run past the disc reapers without engaging them.
    Reapers
The southernmost chamber is a blood-soaked chapel full of Lokians spoiling for a fight. Take them all out, especially the sorcerers on the sides.
    Sorcerers
If you don't, you'll have a room full of angry Lokians to deal with while you fight…
    Oh Myyyyy!
When you're ready to proceed, destroy the dementalith generator at the back of the room. You'll watch a short cutscene featuring Arch-Villainess-in-training High Priestess Akia, who monologues for a bit and promises swift retribution for your meddling. She summons Malgarios, a powerful bloodclaw arachnen, to prove just how serious she takes this interruption in her nefarious plans.
Malgarios is a tough boss, with brutal melee strikes and area attacks. Its combo attack drives forward, pushing even a blocking lancer back. Tanks and healers will need to fight with caution, and ranged combatants need to keep a healthy distance from the front of the fight.
When Malgarios roars, prepare for a powerful area strike. If its eyes flash red, it's preparing a massive single target attack. Malgarios also spits balls of noxious fire, so tanks should try to keep aggro at all times.
When Malgarios is down to 80% health, it runs to the center of the room and summons a number of juvenile ovoliths to the fight.
You really don't want this to happen
Anyone not otherwise occupied should focus fire on these newcomers—they can easily wipe the party. Your best defense is to not have them appear at all, and if you can stun or sleep Malgarios before they're summoned, you'll have a much easier time of it. Malgarios switches to ranged attacks during this stage, so tanking it is especially important. Healers, don't let the tank down—once he drops it's all over for everyone else.
Deal with the adds, keep doing damage at a safe distance, and Malgarios will fall. Miss a block or dodge, or get distracted, and it's all over.
  • 12. Success!

Congratulations! You just saved Poporia from an onslaught of angry vampirs—and gave the Scions of Lok a black eye to boot! And if you've been doing the side quests, you can return to the manor later to do some follow-ups. Fine work, soldier!
