Akasha's Hideout: Guide

Akasha’s Hideout is the seventh instanced dungeon in TERA. It’s ideally suited for level 50 characters but is available through Instance Matching to characters between levels 48 and 54. This dungeon offers five tough bosses and a hard mode for even more challenge.

NOTE: It is highly recommended that you complete Golden Labyrinth before attempting Akasha’s Hideout. Bosses in that dungeon can drop holy potions of protection, which remove a powerful debuff called Akasha’s Withering. All players receive this debuff upon entering Akasha's Hideout.
  • Overview

You must defeat four bosses—including one of your oldest enemies—before confronting the goddess Akasha.

    The Story so Far…

While the dungeon proper is accessible to any character level 48 or higher, it is the conclusion of the Allemantheia plotline (started at level 38 and featured in Necromancer Tomb and Golden Labyrinth), and is meant to be encountered immediately after completing Golden Labyrinth.
In her latest scheme, Akasha kidnapped the archmage Serion, the living embodiment of the Core. Along with your allies Elleon and Fraya, you foiled her plan to steal the Core's power for her own, but she escaped. In the Golden Labyrinth, you used Akasha's devices to transfer that power to Fraya instead. Afterward, Elleon tracked the god to an underground lair beneath the Fyrmount region, and you plan to intercept Akasha there.

  • How to Enter the Dungeon

This section will walk you through the quests and encounters leading up to and inside Akasha's Hideout. The tactics presented are suggested by players like you and draw on extensive play experience, but are not absolute guarantees of success. As with all things TERA, player skill and a healthy amount of common sense are what you'll need to win—but we've compiled a few tips to help you.
The entrance to Akasha’s Hideout is deep inside a cave mouth in Molten Reach. Elleon sends you to look for a glowing blue cave uphill from (southeast of) Fire Base Valor. The teleportal is inside.

NOTE: Although the teleportal (and Instance Matching) may offer passage to both Akasha's Hideout and Akasha's Hideout (Hard), it is highly recommended that you choose the former. Not only will the Hard mode not advance your quests, but all enemies inside have significantly higher HP and attack values. Hard mode dungeons are meant for veteran players with powerful gear, and should not be underestimated.

  • 1. Spelunking for Fun and Profit

Akasha’s Hideout has a simple structure, with four chambers opening off a central hall, Karascha’s Menagerie. One of the side chambers is an entry hall, and each of the other three contains a boss you must defeat to reach Akasha.
    TERA Akasha's Hideout Map
Before you go too far into the instance, use a holy potion of protection (received in the Golden Labyrinth) to remove the Akasha's Withering debuff. Akasha’s Withering drains power and endurance, and persists through death. Only a holy potion of protection can remove it. On the bright side, the potion's effect lasts two hours, and also persists through death.
  • 2. Generals and Instructions

As you navigate the hideout, you'll find many undead roaming the halls. Some are "simple" minions, but a few more powerful minions guard access to sealed doors. If you see large barrels near an enemy, approach with caution. Not only do they explode if attacked, but enemy undead sometimes have bows. Make a ranged attack on the explosive barrels against the walls while several enemies are nearby (bombs are excellent for this), and kaboom! Your path is clear.
  • 3. Adanok—the Sanguinarium

This huge teralith is boss of the Sanguinarium—a chamber between the dungeon’s entrance and the central chamber. Adanok’s minions wake it as soon as you step over the threshold, so be sure you’re ready to fight before you enter.
    TERA Adanok
Tanks should position Adanok near the far wall before the healers and DPS get into position. When Adanok curls up, it’s getting ready for a deadly spinning attack. Dodge or block before Adanok attacks or receive a bleeding debuff. Healers should check their teammates after each spin to make sure no one’s bleeding to death.
When the ranged attack mark appears above Adanok, it’s preparing to bomb you. Wait for it to pause, then move out of range before it launches the bomb.
When its health falls below 75 percent, Adanok uses a three-bomb attack (which, thankfully, it can only use twice). It moves to the center of the chamber before launching these bombs, so when Adanok heads toward the middle of the room, use sleep, stun, and knockdown skills to interrupt it. If your interrupt fails, whoever has aggro should get out of range fast to avoid at least some of the damage.
  • 4. Karascha—Karascha’s Menagerie

You first encountered Karascha on the Island of Dawn in the “Dark Revelations” quest. Karascha told you he’d be back, and now you get to kill him for real.
    TERA Karascha
Tanks should take Karascha to the far wall as the rest of the party enters and takes up position. When Karascha pulls his arms back and roars, he’s getting ready for a Leaping Strike. Tanks and melee DPS should block or get out of range. When enraged, he'll use a triple combo:
Karascha uses a triple combo when enraged: a leaping strike, a frontal jump, and another leaping strike, all in quick succession.
If Karascha turns away while the tank is still pulling aggro, he’s preparing a ranged fireball attack. The fireball carries a stun debuff in easy mode and a bleeding debuff in hard mode. Anyone hit by a fireball requires healer attention.
When Karascha’s health drops to 75 percent, he can use Words of Unmaking, a debuff that can instantly kill an entire party. Words of Unmaking has three stages, and a message appears onscreen at the end of each stage. When you see that Karascha has completed the third stage, hit him with sleep, stun, or knockdown effects to interrupt the skill. Any surviving healers should be ready to heal or resurrect in case the interrupt fails.
In hard mode, Karascha summons minions and uses fireballs to harass players at range. But he only does this while not enraged, so keeping Karascha angry makes him easier to take down.
When Karascha dies, a floating stone called a strange seal appears. Use the seal to summon either Gilgash’s Pylon, which opens the way to Lugribar, or Akalath’s Pylon, which opens the way to Shagrim. In the regular version of this instance (i.e. not Hard Mode), only one of these pylons will appear. Depending on which you get, you must defeat one of the following bosses to get closer to your ultimate goal: Akasha.
  • 5. Lugribar

    TERA Lugribar
Tanks should pull Lugribar to the wall as healers and DPS take up positions. As the fight begins, watch for two key “tells” from Lugribar: a backstep and a crouch. When not enraged, Lugribar backsteps before using Charging Slash. Players behind it are likely to take damage. (Lugribar skips the backstep before a Charging Slash if it’s enraged.) When Lugribar crouches, it’s preparing a double jump attack with a high chance of knockdown. Get out of range or block before the first jump hits. A second jump follows the first. If the first jump knocks you down, use Retaliate, then quickly block or evade the second jump.
When its health reaches 75 percent, Lugribar summons a decoy. This duplicate Lugribar tries to distract you from the real boss. Before Lugribar summons this doppelgänger, it moves to the center of the chamber. Hitting Lugribar with stun, sleep, or knockdown skills interrupts the summoning. If the summoning spell goes off and the doppelgänger appears, you should move away from the center. The real Lugribar moves toward the player who has aggro.
When Lugribar’s health reaches 50 percent, Lugribar summons minions. The DPS can handle these, but make sure someone in your party watches for another summoning and has a stun, sleep, or knockdown skill ready.
  • 5.  Shargrim

    TERA Shargrim
While Shargrim concentrates on the player pulling aggro, its Slash and Shield Swipe skills do damage over a wide area. Anyone near Shargrim’s right leg is in a blind spot for those attacks. Long-range DPS and healers should stay at least 10 meters away.
Shargrim’s most dangerous attack is stabbing its sword into the floor, thereby poisoning any players nearby. Run out of range when you see Shargrim about to plunge its sword downward. Healers should be ready with heals and resurrection in case anyone succumbs to the poison.
Unlike most area-of-effect attacks, Shargrim’s poison is not centered on its target, but slightly behind it. Once in place, the center of the poison area acts as a separate opponent—lancers blocking Shargrim are not protected from the poison hitting them in the back and should move out of the effect (to the left is a bit easier) immediately.
Shargrim uses a Strong Will skill to raise its endurance by 40 percent. Mystics can end Strong Will with Regression.
When Shargrim’s health drops to 50 percent, it summons a priest. Shargrim gallops to the center of the room first, so use the same tactics as with Lugribar, above. Shargrim summons again when its health reaches 15 percent.

    Purging the PlagueStoryDefeat Akasha
Now that you've defeated her lieutenants, Akasha is just a short walk away. Return to the central chamber and interact with the objects there to unlock the final encounter of this dungeon.
  • 7. Akasha

The goddess of plagues, Akasha is part of the evil god Thulsa’s conspiracy to return the gods to power. Though she failed in obtaining the Core's magic, she is still a god, and the most powerful opponent you've faced so far.
    TERA Akasha
Akasha’s attacks are not complex, but her speed and power are considerable.
    Rush
Akasha pulls back and crosses her arms, then unleashes Rush, a high-damage attack skill.
    Sleep
Akasha’s sleeping gas not only causes damage, but it puts the affected player to sleep for 50 seconds, completely vulnerable to her follow-up attacks. When Akasha raises her hindquarters, healers should get ready to remove the debuff from anyone who doesn’t get out of range in time.
    Poison Spray
Akasha’s poison spray attack sometimes targets random characters regardless of aggro. Akasha’s poison is contagious, so run away from everyone else, then stand still until you’re healed—that way you won’t spread the poison to others in your party.
You can take damage as Akasha charges forward, so everyone in range should be ready to dodge or escape her poison gas at a moment’s notice—and healers should be ready to heal poisoned teammates.
When Akasha is enraged, she stops targeting random players with her poison gas. She also stops sending servants against players at range. Aggro skills such as Infuriate work much better when she’s in this state.
    Summon Servants
At 75, 50, and 15 percent health, Akasha summons servants, and you see a message in the center of your screen. These servants attack with Rush, Poison, and Sleep attacks. They’re not very menacing on their own, but they make dealing with their boss that much harder. As Akasha summons, healers should heal as many players as they can, then prepare for the servants to chase down healers. DPS should move in and kill the servants quickly so you can turn your attention back to Akasha.
Lead the servants to the explosive barrels, and they can do your killing for you, but plan your strategy carefully—the barrels are deadly to anyone who’s too close when they explode. Any servants who survive Akasha’s death will disappear with her.
    Normal and Hard Modes
The “Nightmare” and “Elite” monsters in hard mode have twice the attack speed and power of those in normal mode. Each time Akasha summons minions in hard mode, two more barrels spawn. Drop rates are actually lower in hard mode, but your chances of getting high-level loot increases.
  • 8. One last thing...
