New BG: Kumasylum Tips

Kumas Team

As the Kumas team your job is to prevent the opposing team from destroying Treasure Chests and stealing your Rock Candies. The locations of the Rock Candy chests are displayed on your minimap, stay near to them to prevent enemy players from breaking them open. If an enemy player breaks open a chest that contains a Rock Candy and then picks it up, their location will be displayed to you on the minimap. Prevent the Candy runner from reaching the Loading Docks at the top corners of the screen.

Tips and Tricks

  • Players will usually figure out where a Rock Candy is located if you spend too much time loitering by them. Wander the map a little.
  • If you kill a Candy runner you will gain possession of their Rock Candy. Enemy players will now have you kill you in order to steal the Candy from you. Kumases can only carry one Rock Candy at a time. If you kill a Candy runner while carrying another Rock Candy, it will simply drop and another enemy player can pick it up.
  • There are 4 exits to your base, familiarize yourself with their locations and how to reach them as a Kumas.
  • If your team manages to steal 2 Candies from runners, the other team cannot win unless they kill one of the Candy-carrying Kumases. Find a defensive location like a narrow hallway and focus on keeping your teammates healed.
  • Sleeps and other forms of crowd control last almost twice as long on Kumases. Keep an eye on your teammates and use your Cleanse ability to cure them!

Federation Team

As a member of the Federation team your job is to locate the chests in the Kumasylum that contain Rock Candies and carry them to the Loading Docks. The locations are based on a randomized set of patterns, so spread your team out and break as many chests as you can. Chests are considered normal mobs, so equip Hunter Cruxes, Backbiting Cruxes, and Savage Cruxes to maximize your DPS. The Kumases are BAMs, so equip Mutinous Cruxes and Fine Carving Cruxes in your weapon and Anarchic Cruxes in your armor against them (you can try using the usual backcrit crystal setup but it's harder to constantly hit player Kumases from behind).

Tips and Tricks

  • There are 4 ways to exit the Kumasylum, learn how to reach them and try to avoid using the front door unless absolutely necessary.
  • The match lasts 15 minutes. If you find a Rock Candy at the very beginning, there is absolutely no rush for you to try and reach the Loading Dock. Take your time and ensure that the coast is clear before you make a run for it. If a Kumas picks up a Rock Candy, it becomes significantly harder to win.
  • The Pillars on the left side of the map and the Big House on the right side of the map are great places to kite Kumases while you wait for an opening.
  • Kumases are very hard to kill; as such, focus on using your crowd control abilities to prevent their movement around the map. This is especially important when your teammates are running back with a Candy. Sleeps, stuns, and slows are all very important in this scenario.
  • The Hidden Exit causes a lot of problems for most Kumas players to navigate. Use it to your advantage.
  • If you are trying to kite a Kumas around an object, be aware that their breath attack can still hit you.
  • Healers must focus on Sleeping, Plaguing, and Regressing the Kumas. Since they are technically PvE mobs, your sleeps will last twice as long as they normally would in PvP.
  • Kumases cannot pick a Rock Candy up off the ground, if you locate a Rock Candy early don't hesitate to leave it there for the time being.

Candy Runner Tips

  • When carrying a Rock Candy, you are slowed significantly and your skills are disabled. As such, it is NOT recommended for healers to pick up the Rock Candies as you cannot use your skills while carrying a Rock Candy, thus preventing you from CCing the Kumases and healing your teammates.
  • Equip a Fine Swift Crux and a Fine Fleetfoot Crux to increase your movement speed while carrying a Rock Candy.
  • Warriors should activate Defensive Stance before picking up a Rock Candy.
  • Mystics can use Aura of the Swift to increase the movement speed of Candy Runners.
